I met Islam through a friend at university in Trondheim. It was not what she said, but the way she lived — calm, grateful, present — that made an impression.

I started coming along out of curiosity. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, I began to feel the same myself.

I was afraid of being seen as different. But the more I learned, the clearer it became that this was true for me, whatever others might think.

Now, a few years later, the prayer has become the best moment of my day. I only wish I had dared a little sooner.
